Karen was to lead a hike planned in the Whitemud city trails south from Snow Valley and because whitemud has been hiked lately, she did the trails in the river valley in the west end. 15 showed up to hike from Hawrelak Park shelter #2 across the foot bridge into Buena Vista and Laurier Parks. We climbed up to cross the whitemud freeway pedestrian tunnel bridge and hiked through Rio Terrace, stopping for many gorgeous river views. We then dipped down into Patricia and Wolf Willow ravines making our way to cross the river on the Ft Edmonton bridge. We hiked along the river to John Janzen Nature Center to eat our lunch in the sun. Later we went across the Quesnal bridge to take the lower river path in Laurier Park to the footbridge and Hawrelak Park. All in all we went about 11 or 12 km with fairly good footing, a bit slippery at first, then sloppy with dry parts. Beautiful weather and great company!
